Meet David Nason, a home inspector with experience.

My daily goal is to serve my customers with the most informative home inspection I can provide to allow them to make an educated purchase decision. My faith and upbringing as well as my 8 years of service in the Navy Reserve have taught me the importance of ethics, honesty, and trustworthiness in all I do. With more than 30 years experience in the construction industry, I offer my clients a unique view into their potential home due to my background in all areas of what makes a home.

  • Designing Homes: After earning my degree in Architecture in 1991 from the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, School of Architecture and Urban Planning, I designed remodels, additions, and custom homes for nearly 10 years.

  • Building Homes: Early in my career, I also worked as a carpenter apprentice to gain some “hands on” experience of building a home. Later as a Project Manager and Site Superintendent for residential and commercial construction companies, I worked closely with many contractors on issues such as electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, gaining valuable knowledge along the way.

  • Selling Building Materials: I learned more about how a home is put together by selling windows, doors, cabinetry, and millwork to contractors and builders.

  • Restoring Homes: My time in the fire and water restoration industry provided me the best training to become a home inspector. For 8 years I worked as an Estimator and Project Manager learning how to recognize damage to a home, determine its cause, and make the proper repairs.

Tom Feiza, Mr. Fix-It, as a Mentor:  I first met Tom Feiza in 2008 or 2009 while working for a restoration contractor. He was hired to investigate the cause of water damage to a home and I was working for the company hired to make the repairs. During the course of that job I had the opportunity to talk with Tom about home inspections and construction consulting. I kept in touch with Tom over the next few years, seeing him at home shows and other seminars where he was speaking. In late 2013, about 6 months after starting my own home inspection business, Tom and I met again at a WAHI (Wisconsin  Association of Home Inspectors) training seminar. He was happy to see I had become a licensed inspector and asked me how business was going. The first six months had been a little slow, I told him but was hoping for a busier spring. Tom shared he had been talking with a few inspectors in the area to see if he could form a business relationship with one of them as a mentor and eventually sell his business, and asked if I was interested in meeting to talk. Our meeting in early 2014 to discuss what he had in mind went well but he wasn’t ready to make a decision. I continued to do inspections on my own while working for another restoration contractor. In August while working on a project for a condo, the association president asked me to inspect their roof while it was being replaced. Because I had recommended  that the roof be replaced I felt it would be a conflict for me so the president asked if I could suggest another inspector. The only inspector I knew well enough was Tom so I called him to see if he was available for the job. At the end of our conversation, Tom asked me if I was interested in meeting again because he had not yet partnered with anyone and he was really impressed with me at our last meeting. We met again and in September 2014, we signed an agreement for me to begin working directly with Tom. I went on a lot of inspections with him and he went on inspections with me over the next couple of years to train me to be a better inspector and make sure he felt comfortable referring me to his past customers when he wasn't available. Over the years, Tom became a great mentor to me and a great resource for any questions that arose about anything I hadn't seen before, because he probably had. In the beginning I was fortunate to have Tom as a mentor, and now I’m grateful to call him a friend.

Buying a home is a big deal and likely the largest purchase you will make. Much is at stake. My education, training, and experience in all things home can help you make the Best decision possible.
